I attended a funeral today. My great grandma's funeral. The thing is... why do you think people cry during a funeral?
I mean... yes. they cry because they are sad. Because they lost their loved ones. Because it's supposed to be a solemn affair. But those are superficial reasons, don't you think? Personally, I think there's a more hidden meaning behind the shedding of tears, unless you're prepared to say that humans are but superficial beings.
By the way, cry does not necessarily have to come with the action. It's more like... why do people feel sad?
And about the solemn affair part, is it more to do with social norms than instinctive reaction? Like when you first realise your loved one dies, do you feel sad because you should do so or else you are abnormal or because you really feel sad? If the social norm was to celebrate after a person's death, do you think people will continue to do that?
It was just some things that crossed my mind. Maybe it will help you to think more... =D
And for now. Cherish the life you have. One important lesson I learnt today was: It can just be gone anytime.
