Ehh... reading this blog seriously makes one feel inadequate.

Anyway, about the porn and erotica issue... well, according to an online dictionary, erotica is art or literature intended to arouse sexual desire by portraying sex in an explicit way, while pornography is films, magazines, writings, photographs, or other materials that are sexually explicit and intended to cause sexual arousal. Notice that both share the same characteristic and serve the same function. It's just that erotica is more... artistic?

Which, according to the dictionary, means that erotica fulfills the criteria of art or that it shows taste, skill and imagination.

So... what i think is... like in a Venn diagram, either erotica is a subset of porn that has the addtional characteristic of being artistic, or it is the area where porn and art overlap (forgot my math terms, sorry).

My conclusion? Erotica is porn, but not all porn is erotica.

I'm fine without a hard copy... don't kill the trees! Or maybe, don't terminate the programmes called 'tree' (lame attempt at a joke falls flat)

Did you know that there's a new anime called 'Ergo Proxy'? It contains many philosophical references, e.g. the virus that causes androids to "become aware of their existence' and shake off human control is called cogito (it means sentience, right?). It raises many questions, such as 'do we have the right to not seek the truth?' and 'is sentience exclusive to humans?' Maybe you guys would like to watch it...
